Commercial reach-in coolers & freezers, supplied and installed across Ontario & Canada.
Commercial reach-in coolers and reach-in freezers, supplied and installed across Ontario. WFE builds the refrigerated display for gas stations, convenience stores, grocery, and retail: glass-door merchandiser runs, walk-in cold rooms fronted with reach-in doors, and open multi-deck cases. We also place reach-ins as part of a restaurant walk-in build. The same in-house crew installs and sizes them to your store and delivery cadence, not as single units off a catalog.

The Lineup
Three display formats, one cold corner.
Reach-in display isn't one product, it's a system. The right format depends on your floor space, your foot traffic, and how many doors get pulled per shift. Here's how we spec it for gas stations, convenience stores, grocery, and retail.
How it goes together
One cold corner, one refrigeration plant.
A typical convenience-store or grocery build: a back-of-house walk-in cold room with its front wall built as a run of glass reach-in merchandiser doors, plus open multi-deck cases on the floor. We size the door count, the case run, and the refrigeration to your store.

Glass-Door Merchandisers
The glass-door wall, cooler or freezer.
The wall of glass doors a customer pulls open for a drink or a carton of milk. We build the run in commercial reach-in cooler doors at +2°C and reach-in freezer doors at -18°C, mixed in one lineup so cold and frozen sit side by side. Aluminum frames, low-E anti-sweat glass, LED-lit shelves, sized to your door count.
This is commercial refrigerator display: the glass-door display fridge and freezer wall a gas station, convenience store, or grocery runs out front, stocked with beverages, dairy, frozen, and grab-and-go. We spec the door count and the cooler-to-freezer split to your product mix and your traffic.

Walk-In, Reach-In Front
Back-stock behind, sales floor in front.
The most common build we do for a busy store: a walk-in cooler at the back, its sales-floor wall built as a run of glass reach-in doors. Staff load it from inside the cold room; customers pull product from the front. One cold room handles back-stock and display at once.
The cold room itself is a walk-in: 4-inch Norbec and Kingspan panels rated R-27 to R-36, a Coldmatic insulated staff door with Kason hardware and a magnetic gasket, and a floor matched to the traffic. Step up to 6-inch panels and a heated glycol floor when the run is freezer doors. It all runs off a remote condensing rack, so the compressor noise and heat stay off the sales floor.

Open Multi-Deck Cases
Grab-and-go, no door to open.
Open-front multi-deck cases for the product that sells on impulse: produce, dairy, packaged deli, cold drinks, and grab-and-go meals. No door means faster pulls at the busy end of the store, with night curtains drawn after close to hold temperature.
This is open commercial refrigerator display. We size the case run and the refrigeration to the aisle, whether it ties into the same remote rack as your glass-door wall or runs self-contained.

Run through this before the quote call. Even if you can't answer all seven, knowing what you don't know tells us where to focus.
From the Field
Where WFE reach-ins live.
What this work looks like in the field: a finished glass-door merchandiser run for a store, the walk-in cold room that refills it from behind, and a restaurant build where reach-ins go in as a companion.
Glass-Door Display
A finished run of glass-door reach-in merchandisers, the cold wall a convenience store or grocery customer pulls from. This is the work this page is about.
Back-Of-House Cold Room
A stocked walk-in cold room at Food Junction Toronto, the back-stock that refills a glass-door display from behind. Grocery and convenience builds pair the two.
Restaurant Companion
Reach-in coolers and freezers also go in as part of a full restaurant build, sized to the line rather than sold as single units.
FAQ
Questions reach-in buyers ask first.
What is the difference between a reach-in cooler and a walk-in cooler?
A reach-in cooler is an upright cabinet you open from the front, typically 20 to 80 cubic feet, designed for high-turn product on the sales floor or prep line. A walk-in cooler is a room you physically walk into, typically 200 to 2,000+ cubic feet, designed for bulk back-of-house storage. Cost-per-cubic-foot favours walk-ins for any operation storing over 60 cubic feet of product. Most stores run both: reach-in display out front, a walk-in for back-stock.
Does WFE sell new reach-in commercial refrigeration or only refurbished?
Both. New commercial reach-in coolers and reach-in freezers come from our supplier network, specced into your store build or display run; refurbished reach-in equipment rotates through on operator buyouts. We match brand and spec to the fitout, not to a single cabinet off a catalog. Call (905) 565-0291 with your store, your door count, and your budget, and we will scope it.
What drives reach-in freezer cost compared to a reach-in cooler?
A reach-in freezer runs heavier in every spec category: thicker insulation, larger compressor, electric defrost cycle, and higher draw at the outlet. The premium over the equivalent reach-in cooler scales with door count, plant location (top-mount vs bottom-mount), and whether the unit is glass-door or solid. We quote both the cooler and freezer side-by-side so you can see exactly where the cost lands on your spec, not on a catalog page.
Top-mount or bottom-mount compressor — which is right for me?
Top-mount runs in cooler air, which makes the compressor last longer and run quieter. Best for hot rooms. Bottom-mount is easier to service and gives you more usable interior space at standing height. If the room runs hot or dusty, top-mount sits above floor-level dust. We spec it from your store ambient and service-access constraints.
How much reach-in capacity does a store actually need?
For a store, capacity is a door-count question: we size the glass-door run to your delivery cadence and your cold SKUs, so the cooler and freezer doors match what actually moves off the floor. For a restaurant, reach-in coolers and freezers go in alongside the walk-in build, sized to the prep line rather than sold as single units.
Can I buy a reach-in fridge or reach-in freezer separately, or only with a walk-in?
We install reach-in and display refrigeration as part of a project, not as one-off units off a catalog. That means a glass-door run or open cases for a convenience store, grocery, gas station, or retailer, or reach-ins built in alongside a walk-in. If you just need a single plug-in reach-in refrigerator for a home or a one-off swap, a local appliance dealer is the better call.
What kind of warranty comes with a new commercial reach-in?
Manufacturer warranties on new commercial reach-in refrigeration typically run 1 year parts and labour, 5 years on the compressor. Refurbished reach-ins from WFE ship with a 3-month functional warranty. Specific warranty terms depend on manufacturer and unit age.
What's the lead time on a new reach-in?
Lead time depends on whether the unit is in supplier stock, on a new-build order, or pulled from refurbished inventory. Standard configurations are typically faster than custom finishes or non-standard widths, and refurbished units of common spec are usually the quickest. We confirm the actual date when we quote. Supplier stock changes weekly.
Do you install reach-ins or only deliver them?
We install. A glass-door run, a walk-in fronted with reach-in doors, or open multi-deck cases all need the refrigeration tied in, leveled, and commissioned, and most run off a remote rack on 208V. A small plug-in unit can drop into a standard outlet, but the retail fitouts we do are a full install. We can deliver only if you have your own refrigeration contractor.
Where does WFE deliver commercial reach-in coolers and freezers?
Anywhere in Ontario from our Mississauga workshop or directly from supplier stock. GTA-core delivery (Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Vaughan) is fastest. Northern Ontario including Sudbury is on a scheduled-delivery basis. Lead time depends on whether the unit is stocked, new-build, or refurbished. We confirm the date on the quote.
